B. Sc. in Optometry

B.Sc in Optometry is a comprehensive undergraduate course that equips students with the knowledge and clinical skills to assess and manage a wide range of visual disorders and eye conditions. The program includes training in vision testing, prescription of corrective lenses, diagnosis of eye diseases, and management of pre- and post-operative eye care. Students also gain exposure to contact lens fitting, low vision rehabilitation, and vision therapy. With a strong foundation in optics, ocular anatomy, and patient care, graduates are prepared to work in clinics, hospitals, optical retail chains, and eye care research or pursue further specialization in optometry and ophthalmology.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Pass in the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (or Mathematics) as core subjects
  • Minimum aggregate percentage in the 12th standard, typically around 50% (or 45% for SC/ST/OBC students) or higher.
  • Lateral entry to the second year for AHS course candidates who have passed diploma programme from the recognised govt boards (course duration 3 years: 2+1 year internship).
